A chain is not "more plugins." It is a repeatable order that keeps a bedroom vocal clean.

Minimum stock strip:

1. Noise Gate or Expander (only if the room is noisy)
2. Pitch Correction or a tuned region (Flex Pitch on the audio)
3. Channel EQ (cuts first)
4. Compressor
5. DeEsser 2
6. Channel EQ or a high shelf for air (optional second EQ)
7. Sends to Space Designer and a short delay

Stock channel strip settings that work

These are starting points, not laws. Your mic and room will move them.

Pitch Correction

• Key and scale of the song, not C major by habit
• Slow response for R&B and singing
• Faster response for a hard rap effect
• Bypass it on spoken ad-libs if the robot shows up

Channel EQ

• High-pass 80-120 Hz
• Wide cut 200-400 Hz if the closet sounds like a box
• Tiny cut 2-4 kHz only if earbuds sting
• High shelf +1 to +3 dB around 10-12 kHz if the take is dull

Compressor

• Circuit: Vintage Opto for silk, Vintage VCA for punch, Platinum for invisible
• Ratio 3:1
• Attack slow enough to hear the consonant
• Release fast enough that the 808 does not pump the singer
• 3-6 dB of gain reduction on the loud lines

After the shelf. Lowest amount that tames S and SH. If you bury the S, the vocal goes lispy and cheap.

Space Designer on a bus

• Lead send: short plate or small room, low wet
• Stack send: longer, quieter
• Stereo Delay: 1/8 or 1/4 with low feedback, filtered so it does not hiss

Keep the lead fader dry-ish. Wet lives on the aux. That is the whole "expensive" trick.

Save it as a Channel Strip Setting

Routing that keeps the chain usable

• Lead: mono track, chain on inserts, space on sends
• Doubles: same chain or a brighter copy, panned, extra send
• Ad-libs: higher high-pass, more delay, lower in the mix
• Beat: not through the vocal strip

Summing everything through one Channel EQ "because it is easier" is how hooks disappear. Separate tracks. Same saved strip. Different send amounts.

If the session is a mess of unused Channel EQ instances, bounce a dry lead and start a fresh track. A clean Logic Pro vocal chain on a clean region beats a graveyard of bypassed plugins.

Gain, then tone, then space

The strip fails when the region is too hot. Clip Detection lighting up means the compressor is cleaning a problem you created. Lower the region gain. Then the Logic Pro vocal chain can do its actual job.

• Short slap on the delay bus

R&B / singing strip:

• Slower pitch, or Flex Pitch only
• Vintage Opto
• Less presence, more body
• Plate on the lead send, longer hall on stacks

You can keep the same Channel EQ high-pass on both. Change the compressor model and the send. That is enough to stop a drill verse from wearing a ballad's perfume.

If you already built the SZA-style airy version, park it as a third strip for stacks only. Do not run the brightest strip on a dry, talky lead just because you like the name.

What to tweak after Vocalux loads

Vocalux is a starting strip. Your mic is not Mike's mic.

Change these, in this order, before you rip devices out:

1. Region gain so the compressor moves a few dB, not the whole meter
2. Pitch key and speed
3. Space Designer send
4. De-ess amount
5. The air shelf, if earbuds sting

If the vocal still sounds like a closet, the take is the closet. The Logic Pro vocal chain cannot invent a treated room. Record closer. Hang a blanket. Then open the strip again.

Modern Radio after Vocalux is a finishing move, not a stack of two full chains. Pick one lead strip. If you layer both, you will double-compress and the hook will get small.

FL Studio first, then the Mac

Most artists start in FL Studio and learn Patcher there. Logic's Channel Strip Setting is the same idea with different clicks: one saved path, one click to record. If you bounce between laptops, keep a dry vocal. Rebuild the wet in the DAW you are actually mixing in. Do not bounce a Logic reverb into FL and then add Fruity Reeverb 2 on top.
